Share Your Smile: Baca-Queen Family Joins Cleft Smiles 5k
Stephanie Baca, her husband Charles Queen, and their daughters, Penelope, 23 months, and Audrey, 4, have signed up as Cleft Smiles 5k participants to help kids around the world born with cleft lips or palates.
The family has a close professional connection to the cleft community through Stephanie’s job at the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center. “Our Pediatric Plastic Surgery doctors are some of the craftsmen who go each year to perform the wonderful deed for which these funds are being raised,” says Stephanie. Having seen first-hand the impact of these doctors traveling around the world to repair clefts, Stephanie and her family felt inspired to sign up for the Cleft Smiles 5k. “Being a mom, on a personal level, I can empathize with any parent who has a child in need of help,” she says.
The Cleft Smiles 5k will be another notch in the belt of an experienced runner, as Stephanie’s seventh 5k. Most recently, Stephanie is proud to have completed the Toughest 10k Bridge Run. In addition to the Cleft Smiles 5k, the Baca-Queen family will celebrate three birthdays in the month of March!
